If you’re ever been down on Market Street in Philadelphia, you may have seen a hospital campus sporting the Penn Medicine logo. You’re probably looking at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center! Penn Presbyterian is a regional leader in coronary care, minimally invasive, and robotic-assisted surgeries, not to mention a part of the Penn Medicine family, who is ranked first in the region for healthcare. Gardner/Fox has been working in Penn Presbyterian Medical Center for over 20 years! Today, we chose to showcase a few of our favorite projects from recent years, to celebrate this lengthy relationship.

The first project we want to share was the completion of the in-hospital pharmacy! The project included the floor plan reconfiguration of the original on-site pharmacy, new HVAC and electrical systems, and an all-new storefront. The most interesting portion of the renovation was the installation of a robot that automatically filled and packaged prescriptions! Talk about efficiency!

Next, Gardner/Fox completed renovations to the hospital’s operating rooms! This phased project included the renovation of the existing operating rooms, sterile core, loop corridor, pre-op waiting, anesthesia workroom, and locker rooms! All this was completed while medical procedures were going on! This meant extensive dust and debris protection, as well as working around lifesaving procedures. The renovations included the installation of new flow hoods, air-purifying systems, surgical and room lighting, floor covering, and built-in casework for medical equipment monitors and storage.

Our final project was our most recent, the design and renovation of the Andrew Mutch office suite. This renovation included the construction of five private offices, a conference room, employee lounge, storage area, reception desk, and a customer waiting area. The entire suite also received new finish upgrades including cabinetry, flooring, furniture, wall coverings, and half translucent glass walls, to give the space a brighter and more open feeling.
