We have a very special employee spotlight this month – meet Mrs. Lucy Schneider! Lucy has been with us at Gardner/Fox for about two and half years, working in our residential department as an ArchiCAD facilitator, and is an Engineer in Training.
Lucy attended Brown University, where she received a scholarship for women in STEM, and studied mechanical engineering. Prior to joining us at Gardner/Fox, she worked for seven years for her father, who is a design/build architect in Chester County. She worked primarily in the field, learning everything from concrete pours to finish carpentry to roofing. Moving from the field to the office at Gardner/Fox was a change, but learning the in’s and out’s of ArchiCAD, the 3D modeling software that we use to present our designs, has been her favorite ongoing project so far.
Recently, Lucy has taken the next step in education to becoming an engineer. She passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam in April. She took several online courses to prepare to the exam in the Civil concentration so that she could be ready to work as an Engineer in Training focusing on construction. We are so proud of her and her achievement!
Outside of the office, Lucy spends her time reading, working out, and going to hear live music with her husband, Claudio. She also has a passion for sewing and clothing design, and you can see some of the one-of-a-kind pieces she’s made for for friends and family at www.golucy.net, check it out!
