Camden, New Jersey – El Centro Comunal Borincano Day Care is now open and serving the Camden community from a new, larger facility at 438 Martin Luther King Blvd. The new facility provides ample space for 105 more children than before and allows for a higher-quality, developmentally-appropriate program.
Since 1972, the center has served the communities of central and north Camden by providing quality child care services and pre-school and school-age tutoring. For the larger community, El Centro also offers nutrition education, job training, health services and a much-needed bilingual and bicultural program.
Gardner/Fox constructed the $2.6 million 3-story facility designed by Carlos Raul Rodriguez. The project included complete site development and consisted of slab on grade and slab on deck construction, supported by a steel frame and barjoist. The interior includes a commercial kitchen and cafeteria, meeting rooms, support offices, classrooms, laundry facilities, a hydraulic elevator and fire safety and security systems.
