Gardner/Fox helped 3D Auto Body and Collision Centers design their newest location in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The state-of-the-art facility will provide service for cars in need repair using technology developed in Italy by Symach. “The Symach shop employs technology that dramatically reduces drying times for paint, primer and body filler from almost an hour down to seconds, with paint fully cured in less than a minute.” The Conshohocken location is the largest Symach shop in North America.
Needless to say, this one of a kind system needs a lot of space to work, and Gardner/Fox helped redesign the aging 30,000 sq. ft. former manufacturing facility into a place for 3D Auto Body to call home. The transformation began with the lobby and reception area in the front of the warehouse. The 6,000 sq. ft. office space was designed with the customer in mind, including an all new reception desk, waiting area, offices, and employee break room. The massive 24,000 sq. ft. warehouse area was designed to hold not only the Symach paint and repair system, but also a car wash, offices, parts department, and auto body repair bays. Part of the Symach system is the careful attention to the path a car will take during repairs, transitioning from car wash to planning station to repair bays and finally the paint system. This project required an intricate network of mechanical, electrical and plumbing connections at each station, and the Gardner/Fox team worked with the equipment manufacturers to determine the most efficient layout.
As 3D says, “The Future is Here.” The 26 bay facility is now open for business, so stop by and see what the fuss is about. You can check out 3D Auto Body’s website, here, to learn more about their services.
