Prior to the start of construction, insist on a Kick-Off Meeting with your architect and contractor. The meeting should cover day to day expectations such as where the contractors will park, how you’re going to handle the alarm system, who to contact in an emergency and a lot of other details that will make the construction go smoother. This should be standard practice for a contracting company and is a great qualifying question to ask when you are choosing a contractor.
