The existing small pool house, which was situated on a 7-acre property in horse country, did not live up to the beautiful backyard pool it was meant to compliment, nor did it relate to the architectural style of the existing main house, a 19th century colonial farmhouse. The goal for the Gardner/Fox team was to create a social space where the family of six could gather & entertain friends. The homeowners desired a kitchenette area, shower, laundry and changing room. They also asked that the pool house become an indoor/outdoor space, opening to the pool on one side, and the woods on the back side. The pool house structure had to be appropriate in scale & detail to compliment the existing early 19th century original home, with the aesthetic of the original Okie Southeastern PA farmhouse.
