When this beautiful Devon home became an empty nest, our clients decided it was time to update. The home, built in 1955, was in need of a brighter, and more modern look. In addition to an update in style, the homeowners expressed the need for more storage space.
To begin the transformation of the classic home, Gardner/Fox renovated the sitting area on the first floor of the home. A new gas fireplace was installed, as well as all new oak hard floors.
Next, the client expressed the need for more storage in the butler’s pantry. Gardner/Fox worked closely with Sterling Kitchen and Bath to create eye-catching storage solutions. The custom pieces were designed and installed with the homeowner’s style in mind. To keep in the classic style, Old German style glass cabinet doors were installed on both the butler’s pantry and butlers hutch. The cabinetry is accented by the black walnut counter top.
Around the corner, Gardner/Fox built a new wet bar. The custom cabinetry includes a wine rack, as well as a space for the inlaid drink fridge. While the cabinetry is similar to the butler’s pantry, the clients chose to switch out the black walnut counter top for soapstone, which will prove more durable over time with incidental spills and splashes. Finally, the new copper sink beautifully accents the brushed bronze cabinet hardware.
Other renovations completed on the first floor include new custom cabinetry in the client’s home office, as well as the renovation of the hall powder room.
On the second floor, the homeowners wanted to expand the size of their master bathroom. In doing so, they lost their closet storage space. Sterling Kitchen and Bath designed a full wall of custom cabinets for the clients, to compensate. The storage solution brightens the room while keeping to the classic style of the home.
Gardner/Fox completely redesigned and built this master bathroom. The new space is complete with a marble vanity, his and hers sinks, and custom built-in cabinetry. The new glass surround shower includes a marble bench, detachable shower head, and rain shower head.
