Employees Complete EPA Lead Abatement Training Course
On March 10th, Gardner/Fox field employees began a hands-on lead abatement training course at Criterion Labs in Bensalem in compliance with the EPA’s Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting rule. The course covers proper use of respirators, work area preparation, removal techniques (i.e. chemical stripping, heat gun, etc.), clean up procedures and decontamination.
On March 31, 2008, the EPA issued the new rule to protect children from lead-based paint hazards. The rule requires contractors and construction professionals that work in child-occupied facilities (like day care centers) built before 1978 to follow lead-safe work practice standards to reduce potential exposure to dangerous levels of lead. Beginning on April 22, 2010, the law requires contractors to be certified and to implement lead-safe work practices.
