Content with the location of their home, a Main Line family decided to take the renovation route to accommodate their growing family. Their primary goals for the renovation were to provide wheelchair access and a first level bedroom. They hired us to create a renovation plan for a single story family room addition, along with a completely new floor plan for the first level of the home.
The front of the home benefited from a face lift in the form of new Hardi plank siding, carriage style garage doors, and a more substantial portico.
The roof lines of the addition help to integrate it with the existing structure. The shed dormer adds depth to the roof of the addition and allows a window to bring in natural light from overhead.
The back wall of the existing kitchen and breakfast room was blown out for the family room addition.
Windows lining the walls of the family and breakfast room give the family great views of the spacious rear lawn and create a warm sunny gathering area.
The family room addition benefits from natural light spilling in through the high dormer window.
